How to Apply for SC, ST, or OBC Certificate Online in West Bengal | Download Family tree certificate, Panchasheel or Pachanama.
Applying for an SC, ST, or OBC caste certificate in West Bengal has become much easier with the online system. To start, visit the official portal of the Backward Classes Welfare Department – https://castcertificatewb.gov.in. From there, choose the SC/ST option and click on “Apply for SC/ST/OBC.
Fill in the application form with your personal information such as name, parents’ details, address, and caste category.
Upload the required documents like Aadhaar, voter ID, proof of residence, and, if available, caste proof from family members.
After submission, you’ll receive an application number which you can use to track the status.
The application is reviewed by authorities such as the BDO or SDO.
In some cases, they may call for extra verification or additional documents. Once verified, the caste certificate will be issued online and can be downloaded directly from the portal.
The service is free, but make sure all details and documents are accurate to avoid delays. Usually, the certificate takes about 15–30 days depending on processing time.
Documents Generally Required for First-Generation / regular Applicants
1.Passport-size photographs (3 copies, JPEG under 100KB).
2.Proof of age or education (birth certificate, school admit card, Class 8/10 mark sheet or certificate).
3.Proof of residence (voter ID, ration card, Aadhaar card).
4.Caste certificate of father/relatives, if available.
5.If not available, Panchasheel or Pachanama (পঞ্চশীল or পঞ্চনামা ফর্ম) – mandatory for first-generation applicants.
6.Family tree certificate (Banshapanji or Vamsha Vriksha).
7.Proof of domicile/permanent residence (land deed, ration card, voter list showing residence since 1950).
8.Identity proof (PAN, admit card, birth certificate, voter ID, bank passbook, etc.).
9.Self-declaration of income, caste, and assets in prescribed format.
10.Income certificate from competent authority (if asked).
11.Printout of the online application form.
